Kirkby Lonsdale 14-0 Kendal

The club believes more than 2,000 were present for the North One West clash with Chris Ramwell scoring the crucial try for the hosts.

Kirkby survived some early Kendal pressure before man of the match Tom Pickthall made no mistake with a penalty on 20 minutes after the visitors had infringed at a ruck.

Another chance came when Kendal went offside and again Pickthall was on target to make it 6–0 on the half hour.

For one five-minute spell the hosts had only 13 men on the field as both Dan Armistead and Chad Spence were sin binned but Kendal couldn’t take advantage.

Spence had time to cross for a try that was disallowed for a forward pass before a tight opening half came to a close.

The game was still in the balance and as in the first period Kendal were in the ascendancy but Kirkby stood firm despite a yellow card for David Cooper-Dunn.

Pickthall missed a penalty for the hosts into the wind but they were soon on the attack again as full back Ramwell got the crucial score in the corner to make it 11-0 with a quarter of an hour to play.

A sweetly-struck Dave Barton drop goal five minutes from time put the result beyond doubt.
