There was a bumper evening of boxing at the Trimpell Sports and Social Club on Friday, October 4 involving Lancaster and Morecambe Boxing Academy.
First on the card was Jimmy Mason from Lancaster who was pitted against Ethan Bradley of Stockbridge Boxing Academy.
After a cagey first round Mason began to take the centre of the ring using his steady jab to keep his opponent at bay.
After landing a few good body shots in the final round Jimmy had done fantastically well in this, one of his first bouts.
Lee James Barton was next up and followed in the same vein as Mason.
He controlled the fight well and landed several telling blows without reply, leaving his foe, Leigh’s Kyle Parr, with a red face at the end of the fight.
William Mason face faced a stiffer test against the experienced Callum Bailey but once again showed his superior skills catching Bailey with some great combinations eventually running out a convincing winner.
William Birchall obtained a the same result wagainst John Fox from the Stockbridge gym, while Matt Kelly comfortably beat McDonnell.
Troy Gallagher was fighting Toby Finch for the second time in a number of weeks, with Gallagher winning the fight in convincing fashion.
Mohmmad Sajjid from Bury just nicked a very close fight against Brad Whalley, while in the most exciting fight of the night Lancaster’s Ben Williams won by stoppage against Chris Tam Lama from Viking ABC.
Robert Dugdale was beaten on points by Reiss Hussain from the Fit2XL Boxing Club, while the closest fight of the night involved Ben Morell from Lancaster who put so much effort into his performance he was helped out of the ring at the end of the night having lost on points.
Lancaster’s Josh Fisher and Bob Rowntree both won the fights with something to spare against Dillon Killen from the Manx ABC and Omar Osman from Fit2XL Boxing Club respectively, while Joe Kendall lost a very close fight on points.
In the final bout of the night Lancaster’s David Jowett stopped Brandon Riddell after having a point deducted for hitting his opponent after the bell.
