Ike Eastwood then added a great individual try but at 12-0 the Atoms took their foot off the gas with Burtonwood getting their first score.

Heysham hit back however and Henry Connolly dummied his way over to make it 16-6 at the interval.

Josh Clarke cemented the Atoms’ advantage at the start of the second half but Burtonwood weren’t going away and scored two tries of their own to make it 22-18 and game on.

The Bulldogs now had the momentum but Eastwood’s second of the day proved to be game’s decisive try.

Clarke then doubled his own tally with Eastwood converting to make sure of the two points.
