Heysham Atoms Under 18s put in a performance that was good enough to beat the top of the league side Shevington Sharks from Wigan.

The Atoms rose to the challenge and put in a magnificent display, scoring a healthy 40 points in the process.

Captain for the day Jack Edmondson lead the way with a spectacular hat-trick of tries all being run in from long range.

The work ethic of the team was impressive and their defence had to be on their guard throughout the game against a high scoring Sharks side.

Stand off Will Hunt helped himself to two tries, one from distance and one backing up an excellent Dan Rodriguez off load.

Full back Jack Lawton broke away from the cover, scoring just to the right of the posts and centre Kai Davis got back to his try scoring form with two second half trys the second of which from an outstanding Archie Rich pass.

Overall this was the best win of the season and put The Atoms young guns in the mix for the promotion spots at the end of the season.
