Vale victorious at fourth golf day

Twenty-six teams competed in the fourth Vale of Lune annual golf day at Morecambe Golf Club on Friday and in the end two teams from the host club were the winners.

Dave Allen, Jason Harris, Scot Jackson and Dave Davidson won the men’s’ event with 91 points while the team of Linda Hodgson, Gillian Voisey, Helen Kitchen and Sandra James, triumphed in the ladies’ event with 83 points.

Michael Huntington, Tom Winn, Chris Carney and James Bryan came second with 86 points, while Mike Carney, Michael Benson, Michael Gray and Chris Foster were third with 85 points.

Vale president, Norman Hailes presented the prizes and thanked the Morecambe Club for the support and local building contractor Mark Joyce for sponsoring the event.

Mr Hailes also thanked Michael Huntington and Rob Kavanagh for organising the day and said the event typified the good sporting spirit between the two clubs.

All those taking part received an invitation to a Vale game and the winning team won an invitation to dine with Mr Hailes before a home match.

Among the other prizes were rounds of golf at Preston Golf Club, Heysham Golf Club, Lancaster Golf Club and the Worsley Marrriot Park Club.

All the money raised has gone into the Vale of Lune’s redevelopment fund.
