Garstang find antidote to Cobra's venom as promotion race hots up

The top three teams in the Lancaster and Morecambe Table Tennis League Championship Division were in action, resulting in a complete change at the top of the table.

Garstang D have taken over the leading position and are favourites for one of the automatic promotion positions.

Michael and Adam Cooper led the Garstang outfit to a 28-11 win at home to University Cobras.

The result was confirmed when Owen Pye and Michael Cooper won the doubles against Adam Forshaw and Jeff Leung.

Bob Quick was again man of the match for 3-1-5 TT in their home match with University C.

Quick also partnered Graham Brandwood to a 3-0 win in the doubles, giving the home team a 23-10 win pushing them into second place in the division.

Morecambe D lost ground when they were held to a 22-22 draw in their away match at St Lukes C.

Ken Lea took the individual honours with a 100 per cent match record including a 3-2 win against high-flying youngster Toby Ellis. Bradley Wilkinson led the way for the visitors defeating Ray Gaskell in the first set of the match before Lea and Keith Robertson hit back to finish the match at a rare draw 22-22.
