Substitute Mullin continued his good run of form in front of goal with a close-range header four minutes from time to spoil Wycombe’s hopes of sealing an automatic promotion spot.

The points could have been in the bag long before that had it not been for home keeper Matt Ingram who made a string of world-class second-half saves to keep the Shrimps out.

His best came from an Alex Kenyon flicked header on 70 minutes and he followed that up with more great saves from Kevin Ellison and Padraig Amond.

The first half saw few chances.

Wycombe started brightly and Fred Onyedimna had a good chance to open the scoring on five minutes when he ran on to a deep cross from Sam Wood but headed straight at Andreas Arestidou.

The home side went close again on 13 minutes when former Accrington Stanley midfielder Peter Murphy flashed a half volley inches wide of the right-hand post from the edge of the area.

Morecambe gradually began to force their way into the game with Mark Hughes testing Ingram with a back-post header from a well-worked corner.

And It was the Shrimps who had the best chance of the half when Aaron Wildig played in Jack Redshaw but the striker could only shoot straight at Ingram when he should have done much better.

Wycombe started the second half on the front foot with Alfie Mawson seeing a header cleared off the line by a crowd of Morecambe defenders but the Shrimps began to take control and create a host of chances.

It wasn’t until the 86th minute that Mullin got the decisive intervention though as the Shrimps had a major say in the League 2 promotion race.
