A host of local football sides were left frustrated by the wet weather at the weekend.
Lancaster City, Slyne-with-Hest and Garstang all saw their games on Saturday postponed after the North West was hit by heavy rain.
Darren Peacock’s Dolly Blues were looking to make it a hat-trick of victories in the Evo-Stik First Division North at Radcliffe Borough but saw their game in Greater Manchester called off after a pitch inspection on Saturday morning.
City next travel to Derbyshire this Saturday, January 18, when they face New Mills hoping to keep up the pressure on the teams at the top of the table with Peacock’s side currently sitting in sixth.
The Dolly Blues’ reserves did manage to play last Thursday night, January 9, Josh Donnelly scoring the only goal in a 1-1 draw with Bootle.
In the West Lancashire League Premier Division, both Slyne-with-Hest’s game at home to Tempest United and Garstang’s match at the Riverside against Blackpool Wren Rovers were called off.
The postponements mean both sides have not played since December 14 having seen games on December 21 and January 4 also called off.
