Tough week for Slyne and Garstang as West Lancashire League takes shape

Garstang and Slyne-with-Hest sit firmly in midtable after a tough week in the West Lancashire Premier Division.

Neil Crossley’s Riversiders are eighth in the table after a 2-1 defeat at Blackpool Wren Rovers on Tuesday night.

Max Landless scored 10 minutes from time for Garstang to reduce the arrears but they couldn’t find a late leveller.

On Saturday, The Riversiders went down 2-0 at Thornton Cleveleys with Paul Bailey and Harry Rowe on target.

They next host Hesketh Bank on Saturday.

Slyne were held 1-1 by Vickerstown on Tuesday night.

Kieron O’Connor opened the scoring for Ian Roe’s side on the quarter hour with Robert Bruce levelling things up for the visitors on 38 minutes.

On Saturday, Slyne, now ninth in the table, lost 1-0 at home to Eagley with Heath Ainscow scoring the only goal of the game after 12 minutes.

Slyne next travel to one of the league’s early pace-setters Fulwood Amateurs on Saturday.
