Former Morecambe and Lancaster City defender Iain Swan has left his position as manager of Garstang to become Michael Stringfellow’s assistant at Kendal Town.

Swan handed in his resignation at the West Lancashire Premier Division side on Sunday to link up with his former team mate who recently took over at the Lancaster and Morecambe College Stadium.

A Garstang statement said: “We can only wish “Swany” all the best in his new role and respect his reasons for leaving.

“We will be giving serious consideration as to who will be our next manager in the next few days and will be happy to receive applications.”

Former Morecambe midfielder Stringfellow, who works for the Shrimps’ Community Sports arm, is a former Garstang and Lancaster City manager himself and replaced the departed Dave Foster after a successful caretaker spell with the Evo-Stik First Division North side.
