That is the view of boss Phil Brown, who was absolutely delighted to sign the veteran striker.

The 33-year-old has joined the Dolly Blues from National League outfit AFC Fylde.

He started his career with Blackpool as a youth player and was loaned to Luton Town, Bury and Morecambe before making that move permanent.

He then moved to the Republic of Ireland where he played in the League of Ireland Premier League for Sligo Rovers.

Blinkhorn then returned to England with York City who he played for one season before moving to Hyde and eventually AFC Fylde.

Brown said: “Absolutely delighted to have signed Matt. He’s exactly the type of player we need, he has bags of experience and is a quality player. He will be a major asset for us at the top end of the pitch, he will improve our attacking options no end. I’ve met with him several times and have really enjoyed our chats. It’s evident that Matt has excellent knowledge of the game, something that will be of huge benefit to this group of players.”
