Slyne-with-Hest made their long-awaited return to action on Saturday.

The Bottomdale Road side had not played since November 28 before their 4-1 defeat at home to rock bottom Lostock St Gerards who won for the first time this season.

Lostock had lost 13 games on the bounce with Chris Ward putting them on their way with just a minute on the clock.

Tom Entwistle quickly levelled things up for Slyne but Oliver Evans restored Lostock’s advantage on the quarter hour. Ward, on the hour, and Evans, 10 minutes from time then made sure of an unlikely win of the visitors in the second
half.

Slyne, ninth in the table, are due to travel to second in the table Longridge Town on Saturday with former Preston North End midfielder Paul McKenna having recently joined manager Lee Ashcroft at the club.

Garstang’s game at home to Blackpool Wren Rovers was postponed.

The Riversiders are due to host Euxton Villa on Saturday.

nGarstang assistant boss Mark Thornley is dusting off his gloves and preparing to start in goal against Euxton Villa on Saturday.

Garstang number one Dan Curwen was sent off against Longridge Town last month and is suspended for Saturday’s home clash at the Riverside.

So experienced keeper Thornley is set to get his first taste of match action this season, if the game is on.
