After last week’s win in the Lancashire FA Trophy it was back to concentrate on the league form that had taken them to the top four.

Having lost the reverse fixture in Cumbria Slyne were out for revenge and were solid from the start, reducing their visitors to a few shots from range.

At the other end it was much of the same in the first half with Slyne struggling to create chances of their own.

The hosts opened up after the break and the goal came on the hour mark, Jamie Hastings striking the ball sweetly into the bottom corner.

Slyne then went in search of a second to kill off the game but it wasn’t forthcoming as the visitors tried to find an equaliser on the break.

Ben Price was never really troubled between the sticks for the hosts however as he picked up a first clean sheet.

Slyne next host Fleetwood Hesketh this Saturday in the first round of the Richardson Cup.
