Lancaster City coach Darren Peacock is working hard to bring new faces to Giant Axe.
The Dolly Blues boss is meeting players with a view to them joining the club for pre-season.
But he insists it won’t be a “free-for-all” when the players return on June 20 as looks to add to the squad that finished last season.
Peacock said: It’s the process we’re going through at the moment.
“It’s a long one but players will be coming in to have a look at us and us to have a look at them. But we want a certain type of player.
“It’s not going to be a free-for-all. We want players who are going to add something and fit in to what we want to do.”
Having had a taste of the dugout in the final game of last season at Salford, Peacock can’t wait for pre-season to get underway.
He said: “It was a strange one at Salford but I would rather have done that than come in cold for pre-season.
“The lads know what we want.
“It’ll be Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday so will be hard but I want the lads to enjoy it as well.
“I’m just looking forward to pre-season and getting some games under our belts.”
Three friendlies have already been announced.
Conference North outfit Workington Reds will visit Giant Axe on Saturday, July 27, Barrow will travel to the city on Tuesday, July 30 and Peacock’s former team Blackburn Rovers will send a side on Saturday, August 10.
He said: “There’s nostalgia for me but the most important thing is that Blackburn will be a good workout for the lads and we can work on how we’re going to play.
“It’s nice of them to send a side down.”
