MORECAMBE produced another excellent away performance to take a well-earned three points against play-off chasing Oxford.
The Shrimps took the lead after just two minutes through on-loan Craig Curran who made the most of his first full start with a header from close range.
Danny Carlton produced an excellent right wing cross and Curran scooped low down to head past Ryan Clarke.
The lead lasted less than a minute however as the home side hit back almost immediately. Cristian Montano let fly from the edge of the area forcing Barry Roche into a superb save but the ball fell to Scott Rendell who scored at the second time of asking after the Morecambe keeper had blocked his first effort.
Both sides then created chances for a second goal with Roche making another excellent save as he blocked Asa Hall’s shot with his legs.
Morecambe threatened themselves with Curran seeing a shot from the edge of the box deflected just over for a corner.
Morecambe went on to dominate possession in the second half with Lewis Alessandra and Kevin Ellison both trying their luck from distance before the Shrimps won the three points with a header from Stewart Drummond on 74 minutes.
Alessandra provided the delivery from a corner and Drummond nipped ahead of his marker to head past Ryan Clarke.
The home keeper denied Morecambe a third from Gary McDonald’s effort on 77 minutes and Roche was called into action for the only time in the second half with a fine late save from Hall.
