Tom Kilifin was twice denied a penalty, first for a trip before a goal-bound shot appeared to strike an out-stretched Ossett arm on the six-yard line.

Craig Carney hit the bar with a powerful strike from the edge of the box, whilst Terry Cummings and Neil Marshall both had close-range headed efforts saved.

Brown’s men continued to press in the second half and were rewarded with Ryan Winder lifting the ball over the backline to the feet of Gregory. The winger turned towards goal and fired into the far corner to halve the deficit eight minutes into the second half.

City were made to wait for an equaliser that finally arrived when Clark converted from close range having seen his initial shot saved on the stroke of 90 minutes.

Cummings almost won the game for the Dolly Blues with a gilt-edged chance in added time, but his first-time shot from six yards was hit agonisingly wide of the far post with only the keeper to beat.

The Dolly Blues next travel to bottom side New Mills on Tuesday night.
