North Lancs: Caton and Storeys remain in title hunt

Storeys tore the Galgate defence apart with three goals inside the opening 15 minutes and although Galgate managed to score before half-time to make it 3-1, two early second-half goals sealed their fate as Storeys eventually ran out 6-1 winners and put a big dent in Galgate’s title hopes.

Caton United started cautiously against TIC Dynamos/Middleton/Overton but took the lead in the eighhth minute.

The young Dynamos side went straight back onto attack and after a good left wing run and an inch perfect cross they equalised with a brilliant header from their centre 
forward.

The game evened out for 20 minutes before Caton retook the lead and within minutes made it 3-1.

Midway through the second half with the score still 3-1 the Dynamos side started to get the upper-hand and threatened to score but 
things unravelled when a horrendous mistake gifted Caton their fourth goal and within 60 seconds it was 5-1 following another bad mistake.

Two late goals made the final scoreline 7-1.

Lowly Arnside entertained high-flying Cartmel and District and it was Arnside who took the lead in the first half with a James Kirkham goal.

This setback spurred on Cartmel but they had to work hard to get past a stubborn Arnside defence.

Eventually Cartmel forced an equaliser, and then went on looking for the winner. They thought they had won a penalty but to their dismay the free-kick was given outside the penalty area.

With the evening closing in and the game locked at 1-1 Cartmel did get a penalty in the third minute of stoppage time which they converted with the last kick of the game to keep alive their hopes of retaining their title.

Leaders Carnforth Rangers beat lowly, relegation -threatened Trimpell and Bare Rangers in a hard fought game.

The 2-0 victory for the leaders strengthened their grip at the top of the table.
