Carnforth didn’t have it all their own way but goals from young Jordan Darby and Adam Birchal settled it to open up a 10-point lead over second placed Storeys.

Bottom club Boys’ Club put in a good performance against Mayfield United, despite losing 2-1.

Ricky Ball and Josh Altham scored for Mayfield with Tony Smith scoring a cracking goal for the Boys’ Club. Cartmel, after losing midweek to Marsh, travelled to relegation-threatened TIC Dynamos/Middleton/Overton and the visitors came away with an impressive 5-1 victory.

It didn’t take long for Cartmel to take control over a young and inexperienced side and scored at regular intervals.

The first goal came from a corner when the young keeper made a mistake and Ryan Patterson was on hand to score the first of his two.

There were two further goals from long serving Matthew Burrows and one from TIC Dynamos’ leading scorer, who kept up his record by scoring a well-worked goal to make it 4-1 at half-time.

For 30 minutes or so in the second half the Dynamos side played well only, to be punished for one defensive mistake which allowed Andrew Lord to make it 5-1.

Highgrove booked their place in the Eric Wilson Senior Challenge Cup final after seeing off Storeys 3-0 in their semi final clash.

Joe Martin scored twice and Lee Brade also got in on the act as Highgrove’s recent return to form continued.
