Neil Marshall column: We just want chance to get back to winning ways

We are dying for Saturday’s game to be on. We lost our last two games that didn’t get called off and just need the chance to set off on another good run.

We’re hopeful the trip to Burscough will get the go ahead because seeing last week’s game at Darlington postponed was really frustrating.

It always is but we half expected it with the amount of rain there had been the forecast in the run up to the game.

The gaffer had another plan in place because of that and it was good to get a run out against Slyne and keep our fitness and sharpness up.

You can’t beat playing games though and I see the game at Darlington has been rearranged for a Wednesday night.

It means we don’t have to wait too long for what is a really big game in our push for the play-offs.

I’d be lying if I said the midweek games weren’t difficult. I’ll have to finish work early and then it means everyone will be tired the next day.

But that’s the life of a semi-professional player.

The midweek game won’t be great for our fans either who had a couple of coaches booked to travel up to the North East on Saturday.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if quite a few of them still make the trip because they always give us great support home and away.

We’ve got the challenge of playing Burscough first though.

As a side from Merseyside you know they are always going to make you work hard for the points.

But we’re quite confident we can get back to winning ways.

We just need the opportunity to do it.
