Neil Marshall column: Three home games gives us a big chance

We’ve got a pretty important little period coming up.

After four points from our last two matches we’ve got three games at home in a week starting on Saturday.

It’s a really good chance for us.

If we can win these home games against Brighouse and Harrogate we know we’ll be right up there and can really improve on 12th.

Brighouse are first up on Saturday and they aren’t a bad side at all.

They are seven points above us in the league and we drew 2-2 at their place earlier in the season.

They are by no means unbeatable and at home we should be going all out for the three points.

Hopefully after the Boxing Day game against Kendal was called off there will be a few people down watching.

With the amount of rain that fell it probably could have been called off on Christmas Day.

The cancellation has probably cost the club a bit of money but you can’t do anything about it.

We got our festive football underway with the 3-2 win at Prescot Cables on Monday.

I think our luck is changing with regards to late goals.

We’ve had plenty scored against us so it was about time we got one and it was great to get the win after such an up and down game.

We did well in the first half and to be honest could have been four or 5-0 up.

It was just the one but we got a second midway through the second half and were pretty comfortable.

But then they got two screamers to level things up and put us under some pressure.

Thankfully for us though Jake (Gregory) has popped up with the goal for a really satisfying win.

He’s a right back but has been playing well on the right wing in recent weeks.

He’s got the ability to go past people with his pace and really seems to be improving all the time.
