Despite noises to the contrary there was no announcement of a new management team at Giant Axe this week.

Sources had indicated that they would be unveiled on Wednesday afternoon but as the Lancaster Guardian went to print Mick Hoyle was still set to lead Lancaster City as manager against Harrogate Railway on Saturday.

It is understood that the board were presented with the options in a meeting on Wednesday morning but could not reach an agreement and will, for now at least, stick with the current team of Hoyle and assistant manager Michael Stringfellow.

The duo have been helped on the coaching side of things by experienced former Football League player Neil Wainwright and Derek Bull.

Hoyle said, “I was not expecting to be at Harrogate on Saturday, I’d made plans with my family but the board have decided that they want to take a closer look at two or three applications, we might come to a conclusion before Saturday but it’s unlikely, it is something we obviously want to take our time over and get right.”
