TWO familiar faces are set to make a swift return to Giant Axe as part of Lancaster City’s preparations for the new season.
The Dolly Blues have set up a friendly with Blue Square Bet Premier side Stockport County who boast former City stars Danny Hattersley and Alex Kenyon in their ranks.
The prolific Hattersley moved to Edgeley Park in March and notched six goals in eight games to help secure the Hatters’ status in the top tier of non-league football.
Kenyon, who ended the season as City captain, joined Jim Gannon’s side last month.
The game takes place on Tuesday, July 17 at 7.45pm.
City boss Tony Hesketh has received a boost in his bid to replace the two Myerscough College students with news that the amount raised by fans towards the club’s playing budget for next season now stands at £472 per month.
Supporters have clubbed together to try and boost the wage budget in the face of budget cuts announced by the club.
A statement from the fans’ fund committee said: “After an amazing response to the initial fans’ forum last month the current total for the fans’ fund stands at an impressive £472 per month.
This figure is made even more impressive as there are still people willing to join the fund who have not yet done so.
“We are also aware that a couple of high-profile players have left the club this summer due to the wage cuts and the concerns this has raised amongst some supporters.
“We stress that our fund goes a long way to reducing the budget cuts initially made this summer, but there will still be a deficit for Tony to make up.
“However, that deficit has been significantly reduced thanks to our fund and the fantastic progress that has been made.
“This will allow Lancaster City FC to remain competitive with the play-offs once again being the aim and expectation of the football club.”
