Lancaster City slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Droylsden in the Evo-Stik First Division North on Saturday.
The Dolly Blues never recovered from a brace of early goals as Ben Hampson and Dale Wright gave the hosts a two-goal lead inside the first 16 minutes.
Hampson’s opener eight minutes in came from a close-range header before Wright’s stabbed effort goalwards was adjudged to have crossed the line shortly after the quarter hour.
It was a largely tight game however with City unlucky to find themselves two goals behind.
Darren Peacock’s side weren’t without their chances but were unable to get themselves back in the game as Droylsden kept up the pressure on Darlington at the top of the table.
Peacock next takes his side to Ossett Town on Saturday.
