TONY Hesketh believes the current Lancaster City team is the best he has assembled in his time as a manager.
The City boss gave the glowing assessment after the Dolly Blues won their opening four games of the season to top the Evo-Stik First Division North.
Hesketh said: “It’s an ideal start. You hope to win your opening game but to win the first four is very pleasing. Long may this run continue.
“I’m in my third full season here and it’s the best team I’ve put together.
“That’s saying something considering the team we had two years ago that nearly got promoted which included the likes of Jordan Connerton, Roger Sharrock and Michael Stringfellow.
“But this team has more energy and the ability to control games.
“In fact, it’s probably the best team I’ve put together in 30 years of management. It’s quite frightening really.
“They are a young side but they’ve been around for a couple of years and that experience is bearing fruit now. The challenge for them now is how far they can take us.
“We will draw games, we will lose games, we just have to see how they react.”
