STOCKPORT County have made a “tentative enquiry” for Lancaster City’s leading scorer Danny Hattersley.
The young striker will join up with the Blue Square Bet Conference Premier side next week so they can have a closer look at a player they have kept an eye on for some time.
City boss Tony Hesketh said: “We have close links with County and they know all about Danny, now that Jim Gannon has returned to the club they have picked up their interest again.
“I don’t envisage him leaving us this season, they have only made a tentative enquiry and it may be that he joins up with them next season.”
Hattersley has notched up 21 goals in all competitions this season, roughly a quarter of the Dolly Blues goal tally, but Hesketh does not think the side would struggle without him.
He said: “We’ve scored goals from everywhere this season, Danny has got about a quarter of our goals but we don’t rely on him.
“Dave Swarbrick is going through a dry patch up-front but we’ve got defenders who can score from set-pieces and goals from midfield.”
The Dolly Blues have been in indifferent form over recent weeks, picking up just five points since the win on November 26 against Harrogate Railway – winning once and drawing twice.
