JORDAN Connerton could be joined by another returning strike hero at Giant Axe.

The ex-Crewe man confirmed his Lancaster City return this week by putting pen to paper on a contract and former Dolly Blue Mark Jackson will feature for City against Carnforth Rangers on Friday night.

Jackson, who played for Kendal Town last season, has not featured as much as he would like in pre-season and is keen to re-join City.

Chairman and caretaker manager, Mick Hoyle said: “I’m delighted to have signed Jordan.

“We want to get him back to where he was last time he was with us and he needs to start scoring a few goals to put himself back in the shop window. Not only does Mark bring experience but if he signs we have four top strikers with him Tom Kilifin, Connerton and Joe Bunney who is currently out with a groin strain.

“Importantly he wants to join us, he contacted me saying he was available for Friday and Saturday’s games and he will definitely start against Carnforth.”

Hoyle is waiting to hear if Niall Cowperthwaite and Dave Swarbrick want to join the club, both having been the subject of interest from bigger clubs. City’s friendly at home to Workington on Saturday has been moved to 2pm at the request of the visitors, the Cumbrian outfit have used Cowperthwaite on a number of occasions this pre-season and his choice of strip on Saturday could well indicate his future.
