New Morecambe manager brings in his former assistant
Morecambe have confirmed the appointment of Sam Walker as the club’s new assistant manager.
Walker links up again with the Shrimps’ new boss, Adam Lakeland, having previously worked with him at FC Halifax Town, King’s Lynn Town and Curzon Ashton.

A club statement said Walker ‘brings valuable experience, continuity and a deep understanding of his methods, further strengthening the club’s new-look management team.’
The club added: “Further updates regarding Adam’s backroom staff will be communicated in due course.
“Everyone at the club would like to welcome Sam to Morecambe and wishes him every success in his new role.”
Walker and Lakeland first worked together at Curzon, where the former was captain when the latter arrived as the first-team coach.
Morecambe have also announced their early bird season ticket deadline has been extended to 12pm on Tuesday, May 5.
They explained: “Following the recent appointment of a new first-team manager, the club would like to provide supporters with additional time to take advantage of the lowest available prices ahead of the new campaign.
Steve Dewsnip, the Shrimps’ chief operating officer, said: “Following the appointment of our new manager, we’ve already seen a real lift in positivity around the club as we had expected would be the case.
“It therefore felt right to extend the early bird window and give supporters a bit more time to take advantage of those discounted prices.”
“The backing we’ve had so far has been excellent, with over 1,000 season tickets sold already.
“A huge thank you goes to our fans for this support and we’re really looking forward to further building that momentum together heading into the new season.”
