The Shrimps have a good relationship with the Bailrigg campus and were there on Thursday, taking part in a 2.5 mile run through woodlands before a pool session.

Boss Jim Bentley said: “It’s a great location for us and we have a good relationship with Lancaster University, their training facilities are first class and it’s all set up within a fantastic location.

“We’ve used Lancaster Uni as an alternate training facility for many years and the staff are excellent.

“We’ve made some good links with the students and some of the players,

“Ken (McKenna, assistant manager) and myself have taken coaching sessions with the Lancaster Uni team on numerous occasions last season. We’re looking to develop our relationship with the university further.”

Pre-season training over the last week has also included a full 11 against 11 game on the Globe Arena pitch on Saturday.

Bentley said: “I thought the quality was good, the lads tired in the last 20 minutes as the long, hard physical week seemed to catch up with them.

“We’re pleased with their fitness levels and attitudes.

“We’ve had one or two little niggles but we’re hoping everyone will be fit for the game at Kendal on Tuesday.”
