Morecambe striker Jack Sampson has joined Macclesfield Town on loan until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old, who has seen first team opportunities limited this season, joined the Vanarama Conference side as the Football League’s loan window closed on Thursday.
Sampson, whose contract expires in the summer, has made 58 appearances and scored five goals for The Shrimps since his move from Bolton Wanderers.
The forward’s departure meant Shirmps boss Jim Bentley tried to make a late move in the loan window but he was unable to get a deal over the line before the 5pm deadline.
Bentley said: “Jack’s first-team opportunities of late have been limited.
“We’ve received numerous offers over the last few months for loan moves that for one reason or another haven’t quite worked out.
“Macclesfield contacted us around lunchtime today and Jack has decided that this would be a great opportunity to get some first-team football.
“We were also hoping to have been able to announce an addition to the squad but we weren’t quite able to agree a deal.”
