MORECAMBE winger Kevin Ellison will see a specialist this week to try and remedy a back problem that has been troubling him for around a month.
The former Rotherham man missed a few games over the Christmas period with the injury but it didn’t stop him scoring his 12th goal of the season against another one of his former clubs Bradford on Saturday, his last-gasp strike earning the Shrimps a 2-2 draw at Valley Parade.
Shrimps boss Jim Bentley said: “Kev has been in a lot of pain and wasn’t really supposed to be playing (against Bradford). But we put him on the bench just in case and I am so glad we did because he just keeps writing his own scripts at the minute.
“He is an amazing character and when he came on he gave everyone a lift.”
Three trialists will line up for the Shrimps’ reserve side in their game at Tranmere Rovers tonight.
Goalkeeper Chris Kettings, former Chesterfield striker Jordan Burrow and Altrincham forward Jack Redshaw will be in Stewart Drummond’s starting eleven.
On Redshaw, Bentley said: “I have heard a lot of good reports about Jack and he impressed in training on Monday.
“He is only small but he is strong and has a real eye for goal.”
