Morecambe boss Jim Bentley is taking a look at former Barnsley and Shrewsbury midfielder Darren McKnight.
The Northern Ireland Under 21 international scored in the 2-0 reserve team win over Walsall on Tuesday as he looks to impress at the Globe Arena.
The 20-year-old was released by Shrewsbury in January and is currently training with The Shrimps.
Bentley said: “He’s a Northern Ireland Under 21 international who’s been with Micky Mellon at Barnsley and Shrewsbury.
“He’s not made a first team appearance but he got released in January, played for us the other day and has been training with us.
“He’s just one we’re having a look at.”
Academy player Luke Jordan scored the other goal in the Walsall win, with first-teamers Aaron McGowan, Andy Parrish, Andy Fleming, Paul Mullin, Lee Molyneux and Kieran O’Hara also involved.
