The Shrimps head to Tranmere Rovers tomorrow on the back of three defeats in four games.

The latest of those was at Carlisle United in midweek, the 3-1 loss dropping the Shrimps to 12th in the table.

They now head to Prenton Park to meet a Tranmere side similarly in need of a pick-me-up after losing 4-0 to Crawley Town in midweek.

Morecambe head to Tranmere Rovers on the back of three defeats in four

Adams said: “There are no easy games, just because of the way the season has gone.

“We’ve got to get back to what we’ve been doing in the past.

“It was an unbelievable start at Carlisle, to lose a goal after 25 seconds and the second after three minutes makes it so hard.”

While injuries and players in self-isolation have not helped, Morecambe’s defensive work has also hindered them.

They have conceded 19 goals in nine games, the second-highest tally in the division behind bottom club Southend United (20), and with only one clean sheet so far in League Two.

“We have to defend better than we’ve been doing,” said Adams.

“If you look at the Cambridge and Crawley games (5-0 and 4-0 defeats), we’ve lost nine goals in those two games and that’s added to the goal difference.”

Morecambe will again be without Harry Davis and Cole Stockton, both of whom return to training early next week after self-isolating.

The news is better for Alex Kenyon and Ryan Cooney, both of whom were named on the bench at Carlisle even if they weren’t able to feature .

“I put them on the bench to make it look a wee bit respectable,” Adams said.

“They are coming along and are training on Thursday.”
