The Shrimps head to Brunton Park, looking for victory after taking one point from six in their home matches against Mansfield Town and Forest Green Rovers.

Three games without a win have seen Adams’ players drop from first to 11th in the early League Two table, albeit only three points from third place.

They head north to face a Carlisle side seventh at present but also in the knowledge they have been successful on the road so far this season.

“We have won three games away from home at difficult places,” Adams said.

“Carlisle’s one where, last season, we played really well. They have changed their team over recent weeks, so from my point of view, we have to see what kind of squad they bring into the game.

“It’s always a venue you look forward to going to. There’s a nice pitch to play on and we have got players who will enjoy going there.

“It’s another match and they are coming thick and fast at this moment in time.

“We have performed well so far, we’ve had a lot of difficult games to play.

“We had another very good performance against Forest Green, we feel we should have taken a win but we lost the game and now we look forward to Carlisle.

“They have started the season as well as we have. They are a point ahead of us and we’re trying to catch them.”

Tonight will be the penultimate match of a seven-game October for Morecambe, rounded off by Saturday’s trip to Tranmere Rovers.

It is also the second straight week that they will be playing Saturday and Tuesday with another coming next week when Exeter City visit the Mazuma Stadium in midweek.

With so many games in a short space of time, it had been hoped the Shrimps would be in a position to rotate some of their squad.

However, they were without a number of players – and their physio Simon Farnworth – at the weekend through a combination of injury and self-isolation.

A-Jay Leitch-Smith has added to the list of absentees with a hamstring injury that will keep him out for up to four weeks.

Adam Phillips also departed the Forest Green defeat with illness and was unable to train on Sunday.
