The Shrimps’ 1-0 victory at Tranmere Rovers on Saturday took them to 16 points from 10 games and just one point off a League Two play-off place.

They are back in action again on Tuesday night when they welcome Exeter City to the Mazuma Stadium (6.30pm).

Adams said: “For us to have five wins and one draw from the first 10 league games is a fabulous start to the season.

Morecambe have had an encouraging start to the League Two season

“We are looking to win every game. The players are focused and driven, and they showed that on Saturday.

“I’m more than delighted with the start we have had and I think every Morecambe fan should feel proud of their team for the position they are in the table and the amount of points that they have after 10 games.

“I’m sure it’s more than they would have dreamed of before the start of the season.

“We probably had the lowest budget in the league, lower than we had last year and probably lower than the season before, and I think it’s testimony to the players.

“We still have players on a 20 per cent reduction of wages and it is great credit to them how well they are competing to win football matches.

“We have had to chop and change because of injury and isolation but you can see that when we have had to make changes, we have someone who can come in and it really does help having competition all over the pitch like we have.”
