Morecambe make Rhys Turner their fifth summer signing

Morecambe have made former Oldham striker Rhys Turner their fifth summer signing.

The Preston-born front man has signed a two-year deal having impressed during pre-season training.

Former North End youngster Turner, who turns 21 later this month, played for Lancaster City while studying under current Blues boss Phil Brown at Myerscough College.

He then moved on to Stockport County before joining Oldham for an undisclosed fee. 
Turner played 25 games for Oldham and had loan spells with York and Macclesfield last season.

Shrimps boss Jim Bentley said: “Rhys has been with us since we started back pre-season training and has showed a good attitude.

“He’s young, bright and very eager to do well and progress.

“We have had good reports about him from people we know in the game and we have seen enough in him to suggest he’s got a very bright future.

“I am really looking forward to working with him and helping him fulfil his potential.”

Turner joins Dean Winnard, Luke Conlan, Liam Wakefield and Cole Stockton as new signings at the Globe Arena this summer.
