Morecambe Ladies hammered Preston North End Ladies at the weekend.

It took 15 minutes for Morecambe to open the scoring when Laura Callis ran onto a through ball to smash the ball passed the keeper’s despairing dive.

A chip from Doherty was chested down by Millie Brown and she went round the left hand side of the defence and calmly slotted the ball into the far corner of the net to make it 2-0.

Brown then added a third before Doherty to opened her account to make it 4-0.

Seven minutes into the second half plucky North End pulled a goal back when a mix up allowed Rebecca Topping to make up for her earlier gift to Megan and place the ball in the Morecambe net.

Morecambe set siege around the Preston area though with Whittingham hitting a low drive into the bottom corner, 5-1.

Preston didn’t help themselves, when Relph played a ball for Brown to run onto, the Preston keeper’s attempted clearance crahed into the persistent Brown, falling nicely to Doherty to control and place into an empty net.

Brown completed her hat-trick after picking up the ball on the half-way line and drove to the edge of the Preston box and let fly a screamer, giving Coupe no chance.

A poor clearance from a goal kick was then sent back into the path of Doherty who ran past Coupe and claimed another deserved hat-trick.

Doherty then made it 9-1 before Millie Brown rounded the keeper for her fourth.

A sweeping move brought goal number 11 thanks to Doherty again and she finished the game off with tow more goals to take her tally for the day to seven.
