The Shrimps have won just one of 11 meetings between the two sides in league and cup but are looking to make it three League 2 wins from three this season.

The current incarnation of the U’s is something of an unknown quantity however with the arrival of former Blackburn and Blackpool boss Michael Appleton over the summer being just one of several changes.

Shrimps boss Jim Bentley said: “There’s a new manager, new coaching set up, new owners and a few new players.

“But they’ve got some stalwarts who’ve been there for quite a while too so we know it’s going to be a tough game.

“We don’t have the best of records against Oxford either.

“But we’ve got momentum and are confident we can keep it going.”

On the selection front the big news for the Shrimps is that Laurence Wilson is set to return to action after training on Monday having missed Saturday’s win over Newport following the death of his father-in-law.

Ryan Edwards remains the only absentee after finger surgery but it is hoped he will return to action in the next fortnight.
