Morecambe fear Murphy injury is serious
Morecambe have been dealt a major early injury blow after new captain Peter Murphy limped out of their opening day defeat at Hartlepool.
The former Wycombe man picked up a knee injury in a hard, 50-50 challenge just seven minutes into the game.
He left Victoria Park on crutches wearing a knee brace with the club hopeful he can have a scan on Sunday or Monday.

“He’s a big player for us. He only got the captaincy on Thursday.
“I feel sorry for Peter and I feel sorry for the group because he’s a big player for us.
“Hopefully after he has a scan the injury isn’t as bad as first feared but it’s not looking great.”
