The midfielder had been in fine form before having to self-isolate along with Liam McAlinden earlier this month, following on from the similar absences of Cole Stockton and Harry Davis.

He missed the FA Cup win at Maldon and Tiptree earlier this month, as well as the draw against Stevenage, before returning for the Papa John’s Trophy tie against Manchester United’s U21s.

“They have had to isolate and work themselves back into the squad,” Adams said.

“That’s what Cole Stockton and Harry Davis had to do as well.

“It’s unfortunate for them but they were off for 10 days to two weeks, so it’s just about trying to get their fitness levels up.”
