The Shrimps’ boss saw his players move to the top of League Two with their fourth win in five games after beating the Latics 3-2.

Goals from Aaron Wildig, Alex Kenyon and Cole Stockton gave Morecambe the points, though Conor McAleny’s double offered hope to an Oldham side who eventually ended the day bottom of the table.

Nevertheless, Adams was a happy man after watching his players’ display.

He said: “It was an excellent performance from us and we thoroughly deserved the win.

“We started the game on the front foot and we caused Oldham a lot of problems in the first period.

“We got into their box, into some good positions, and were unlucky not to go ahead before we did but their keeper made some great saves and kept them in the game.

“Eventually we got the opening goal through Aaron Wildig, and although they came back into it early in the second half, we carried on looking a threat and scored two fabulous goals in the second half.

“All the goals we scored were excellent with fantastic crosses from Ryan Cooney and John O’Sullivan for two of them, which was good to see as they came from situations that we have been working hard on in training and it’s nice to see it pay off on a matchday.

“The only downside to the game was that we didn’t see it out the way we should have done.

“We made some bad choices and that allowed them to get one back late on but we held on.

“Oldham are a good side and they are in a position where they shouldn’t be, and they won’t be there at the end of the season.”
