Morecambe boss is ready for a step into the unknown against Grimsby Town

The Shrimps welcome Grimsby to the Mazuma Stadium, looking for a sixth straight home victory in all competitions and to maintain their place in the League Two play-off positions.

For their part, the visitors make the journey after losing to Bradford City in midweek and seeing manager Ian Holloway depart the club amid takeover talk.

Adams said: “They have come off a defeat, their manager has resigned and there will be someone different in the dugout.

“That might bring different ideas to the game and the team might change from the other night.

“It’s very difficult to guess or to make an assumption on what the team will be but, sometimes, that’s the case on a weekly basis.

“Some managers at different clubs like to change their teams about. All we know is they have a squad of players to choose from and we’ll have to take it from there.”

After today’s match, the Shrimps close out the year with a trip to Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday before starting 2021 at Bradford City on January 2.

It’s a less hectic Christmas and New Year programme than in recent years, though the condensed first half of the season at least means the Morecambe squad is used to regularly playing Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday.

As Adams outlined, there is also mixed news on the injury front going into the festive period.

“Kelvin Mellor’s doubtful for the game,” he revealed.

“A-Jay Leitch-Smith has had an injection, Freddie Price is back in training now and we’re having to assess Adam Phillips after he came off with an injury (at Colchester).”
