Morecambe boss has decisions to make with Ellison and Edwards back from bans

The pair have served three-match bans after being found guilty on video evidence of pulling the dreadlocks of Wycombe’s Marcus Bean.

Now they come back into a squad that is unbeaten in their last three games, scoring nine goals in the process.

Shrimps boss Jim Bentley said: “They’ll come back into the squad because we’re stretched numbers wise.

“But everyone’s done well, we’re in good form, we’re looking a threat, we’re scoring goals and it was great to keep a clean sheet against good opposition (Walsall) on Tuesday night.

“I’m just thankful that they are back.

“Over the last couple of weeks we’ve been stripped bare of our players for one reason or another.

“We’ve been hit really hard so I’m pleased to have them both back after a three-game lay off.”

Injuries continue to mount at the Globe Arena with Andy Parrish having dropped out of the warm up against Walsall with a back problem.

Aaron Wildig should however return having battled illness over the last week.

Bentley said: “We’ve lost Parrish in the warm up the other day with a back spasm problem after (Laurence) Wilson pulled out in the game before that.

“There’s not many clubs who can suck up the loss of their captain (Peter Murphy) and vice-captain (Shaun Beeley) as well.

“We’ve been stretched but we’ll have Ellison, Edwards and Aaron Wildig back this weekend.

“There’s others who are touch and go. We’ll be stretched again but we have been over the last week and have won two games and scored six goals.”

Bentley has been pleased with how his side have reacted to being up against it with injuries.

He said: “Sometimes when everything’s stacked against you, you get good results.

“It’s a good sign because character and team spirit shines through.

“There’s a great team ethic and we’ve rolled our sleeves up and come out fighting.”
