Morecambe boss Jim Bentley felt his side made it far too easy for Luton after the Hatters won 3-1 at the Globe Arena.

The Shrimps chief criticised his side’s fighting spirit as they slipped out of the play-off places after being undone by soft goals on Tuesday night.

Bentley said: “I’m very disappointed as you can imagine.

“It’s like the Northampton game (a 4-2 defeat in the last home game). It’s far too easy to score against us.

“I can accept that maybe I got the formation wrong but that doesn’t excuse passing from A to B, that doesn’t excuse getting beaten too easily one v one, that doesn’t excuse losing your man from a set play.

“If I’m honest I think they’ve got better players than us.

“We’ve got a lot of players who look okay when things are going our way but I thought there was a lack of thought tonight and they wanted it more.

“We can play well and with confidence if things are going for us but football’s not always like that.

“You’ve got to roll your sleeves up and make sure you’re hard to beat as a team, you’ve got to do the ugly side.

“When you come up against the big sides you can’t give them a leg up and it was just too easy.”
