Morecambe boss Jim Bentley believes Shrewsbury will be playing in League 1 next season after seeing them win 4-1 at the Globe Arena on Tuesday night.
The Shrimps took the lead through Jack Redshaw but were 2-1 down when Andreas Arestidou was sent off early in the second half with late goals from Jermaine Grandison and Tyrone Barnett adding some late gloss to the scoreline.
Bentley said: “I said when we played Shrewsbury down at their place they were the best side I’d seen and they backed that up again tonight.
“You look at the players they’ve got and I think they’ll bounce straight back up.
“We had that nervous edge about us again to start with but the mad thing is about football that you create the chances that we did against Hartlepool and don’t take one but with our first chance tonight we’ve scored and find ourselves 1-0 up.
“I haven’t seen the two goals but again we looked a little bit jittery, smashing it against each other.
“We found ourselves 2-1 down but we addressed one or two things at half time and at the start of the second half Jack Redshaw gets himself into a great position and if he squares it it could be 2-2 and the momentum would swing our way.
“I’m not going to comment on the red card because I haven’t seen it but at the time I thought it was sending off.
“Fair play to Tom Stewart he’s gone in and I don’t think he’s even played three games at reserve team level.
“He pulled off a couple of saves and we battled away, but I think Shrewsbury gave everyone a lesson on how to play with 10 men.
“They didn’t chase the game, they wore us down and moved it round well and got the two late goals.”
