Morecambe boss Jim Bentley is pleased with what he’s seen from his players during the opening days of pre-season.
The Shrimps players return from their summer break on Wednesday and have gone through the usual checks and tests as the build up to the new season begins.
Bentley said: “We’re looking good, they’ve all been given programmes to do while they were away and they’ve all come back in good nick.
“Some are better than others but that’s the way humans are and we’re pretty pleased with the condition of them overall.
“The morale’s good and they’ve slipped straight back into things.
“It’s always the hardest part of the season, certainly the first part of pre-season because all the days are double days, but it’s going okay at the moment.”
Bentley has mixed things up over the first few days with days not only at the club’s Turner’s Field training ground but also 3-1-5 Health Club in Lancaster and Lancaster & Morecambe College.
Speaking on Friday, The Shrimps boss said: “It stimulates the players a bit if we do different things.
“We went to 3-1-5 gym on Wednesday to do the five and 10 metre sprints and strength tests, and now we’re at Lancaster and Morecambe College doing the yo-yo test.
“We did some physical and ball work at the training ground on Thursday so it’s a little bit different but it’s planned and structured to get us ready for that all important first game.”
