The Shrimps ran out 5-0 winners at the Evo-Stik First Division North side with Aaron Wildig, Lee Molyneux, Alex Kenyon, Kevin Ellison and Tom Barkhuizen on target on Tuesday night.
Bentley said: “It was just what we needed.

“When you’ve been off and you want to get back in to competitive stuff you’ve got to get over the first hurdle of the physical work and the lads have come back in great shape.

“We got that out of the way and everyone’s been chomping at the bit to get their teeth into competitive stuff.

“I thought Kendal were a good little side. They gave Barrow a good game on Saturday and the set-up’s always good.

“We’ve come through with no injuries which is key, we’ve got minutes into them, we scored some good goals and there’s some real good signs.”

Only Laurence Wilson and Nathan Bondswell missed out with niggles meaning Aaron McGowan played the full 90 minutes, the rest of the squad playing a half.

Bentley is now looking forward to the first pre-season home game against Bolton at the Globe Arena on Friday night.

The Shrimps boss said: “We lost two players in training yesterday, Wilson and Bondswell going down with a slight groin and a bit of a hamstring.

“Everyone was going to play 45 minutes and it just meant Aaron McGowan has had to play 90 but I thought he was excellent.

“All in all, I’m pleased and now we’ll build up to the Bolton game.”
