Morecambe boss Jim Bentley admitted his side were below their best but was delighted to get back to winning ways at home on Tuesday night.

Goals from Kevin Ellison and Shaun Miller, his seventh in five games, and a late Paul Mullin penalty, helped The Shrimps to a 3-1 win over Crawley.

Their fourth win in all competitions also ended a three-game losing streak at the Globe Arena.

Bentley said: “I don’t think it was a great game but the most important thing today was winning.

“You come back home after a couple of good results and there was a little bit of pressure on us to win.

“We haven’t been great at home recently. We’ve scored goals but defensively we’ve struggled.

“Shaun Miller got his goal again with a fantastic bit of play, Paul Mullin’s got five for the season “now and Kev’s really been working hard and not had much luck so I’m made up for him to get back on the scoresheet.

“It was a bit dull though, the crowd were waiting to be excited and the players almost wanted the crowd to get them up and running.

“But that was a massive win for us because it breaks that cycle.

“We’ll play better but tonight it was about the result."
