Morecambe made it two pre-season wins out of two with victory over Bolton at the Globe Arena on Friday night.
Stephen Dobbie gave the hosts the lead on the half hour but goals either side of half-time from Aaron Wildig and Paul Mullin capped another encouraging outing for Jim Bentley’s side.
Despite Bolton having the better of the play early on it was the hosts who had the first real sight of goal on the quarter hour.
A fine, sweeping move ended with Lee Molyneux squaring for Wildig who could only poke the ball wide from 12 yards.
Five minutes later Mullin was the next to go close, former Manchester United stopper Ben Amos getting down low to his right to beat away a shot from the right side of the area.
Amos was called into action again on 27 minutes, Molyneux whipping in a free-kick that had to be dealt with.
Bolton then had the game’s best chance on the half hour but after Emile Heskey’s lay off Dobbie could only drag his shot wide from 12 yards when he should have at least tested Barry Roche.
The former Swansea man made no mistake two minutes later however, beating the offside trap to latch onto Neil Danns’ fine lofted through ball before finishing clinically past Roche.
Another neat move from the visitors on 37 minutes nearly made it two but Tom Walker hit the outside of the post from a tight angle.
It was then Morecambe’s turn to put the passes together as they levelled things up with an excellent team goal five minutes before the break.
Molyneux’s reverse pass released Mullin on the right edge of the area and he squared for the advancing Wildig to score his second goal of pre-season.
Bolton could have gone back in front before the half-time interval but Darren Pratley fired two efforts narrowly over the bar.
It was the hosts who went in front four minutes into the second half, Mullin pouncing on Derik Osede’s woeful backpass in the area to fire past Amos.
Having already hit the post Walker then curled a shot off the bar from 15 yards with Roche beaten as Bolton went in search of an equaliser.
The mass substitutions kicked off on the hour mark but the Shrimps were still bright, Peter Murphy whipping a shot wide from the edge of the area and Adam Dugdale heading over a corner.
The volume of changes all but accounted for any meaningful action as the game drew to a close but is was still another positive night for the Shrimps as they build up to the new League 2 season.
