The Shrimps hadn’t had the ideal build-up to the game with a number of players missing through injury and two others - as well as physio Simon Farnworth - in self-isolation.

Nevertheless, they had led for more than an hour thanks to A-Jay Leitch-Smith’s goal on his first league start of the season.

However, two goals in five minutes from Jake Young and Jamille Matt deep into the second half meant it was the visitors who took three points.

Adams was especially unhappy with Young’s 79th minute equaliser, feeling there had been a foul in the build-up.

He said: “From my point of view, it’s another decision that’s gone against us.

“Jamille Matt has pushed (Nat) Knight-Percival with two hands, to enable him to get a header on the ball that falls to the striker (Young).

“We will wait and see what the (refereeing) supervisor says about that. He’s already told us the game against Crawley shouldn't have been offside, he's already told us we should have had a penalty and a sending off for the opposition the other night (against Mansfield Town).”

Adams was, however, happier with his side’s performance for much of the game.

Aaron Wildig, Adam Phillips and Toumani Diagouraga all had opportunities to find the net but were either denied by the woodwork or Rovers keeper Luke McGee.

“We started the game very well and we took the game to Forest Green,” Adams said.

“We pressed them high up the pitch, stopping them from playing out which they like to do.

“Quite quickly we created a number of good opportunities and eventually got the goal.

“We had changed the system to try and win the match, and it put us in a very good position.

“We really frustrated Forest Green for long periods of time. They like to try and play through you, they like to dominate that middle of the pitch but they couldn’t do that. Then they get the (equalising) goal.

“The second goal, we have to do better; we have to stop the cross and, also, he (Matt) can't get a free header in the box.”
