Leon Gierke scored twice in a dramatic game with Neil Crossley’s side running out 4-3 winners in the West Lancashire Premier Division.

Both sides were reduced to 10 men midway through the first half with Garstang’s Danny McGahon and Eagley’s Jack Horan were sent off for an altercation off the ball.

Gierke gave Garstang the lead on 36 minutes as he finished in style after taking Adam Roskell’s pass before making it two on 53 minutes after good work from captain Gary Fawcett.

The visitors pulled a goal back through Danny Vincent on 59 minutes before Crossley’s side re-established their two-goal advantage on 70 minutes with a fine solo goal from Dre Mattichechia.

It was 4-1 10 minutes from time when skipper Fawcett got his name on the scoresheet but Eagley pulled a goal back almost immediately through Neil Bebbington.

Garstang then had a chance to settle the game once and for all from the penalty spot but Fawcett’s effort was saved.

Eagley got their third with time almost up as player-manager Simon Whaley made no mistake with his spot kick.

Slyne-with-Hest went down 2-1 at Euxton Villa on Saturday.

Liam Breslin got the Slyne goal 15 minutes from time to level the scores but Rick Wilson got a late winner for the hosts.

Slyne still sit third in the West Lancashire Premier Division.
They exited the Lancashire FA Amateur Shield at the semi-final stage last Wednesday night with a 2-0 defeat at Coppull United in a game played at Bamber Bridge’s Sir Tom Finney Stadium.
